ARC 62404

PROJECT 2

PROJECT 2

FARNSWORTH HOUSE (20% INDIVIDUAL)

PROJECT BRIEF

INTRODUCTION

Orthographic Projections refer to a method for illustrating a three-dimensional object in two dimensions, using drawings to convey the object's form and dimensions through a set of interconnected two-dimensional views

OBJECTIVES

To foster proficiency in design communication, this course aims to develop architectural graphic skills.

To enhance proficiency in visualizing and communicating architectural concepts, space, and form.

TASKS

  • Plan

  • Elevation (Two Elevation)

  • Section (One Section)

  • Axonometry

  • Perspectives (One Point and Two Point)

OUTCOME (MODEL)

Depict architectural forms and spaces by visually expressing spatial concepts through manual drawing.

Interpret visual data by utilizing both two-dimensional and three-dimensional orthographic drawings.

1.0 Discipline Specific Knowledge

3.0  Thinking And Problem Solving Skills

I have developed theoretical drawing competencies, and I am now proficient in their practical application. During the creation of perspective drawings, I encountered obstacles attributed to my restricted understanding of drawing from diverse points of view. Through consistent and thorough research efforts, I eventually unearthed the precise methods required to execute these drawings with precision.

When facing challenges in creating perspective drawings, I make an effort to seek helpful tutorials and information. This enables me to define and analyze the issues, ultimately leading to the identification of effective solutions. Ultimately, I succeed in creating the perspective drawing accurately.

REFLECTION

Reflecting on the process of creating the orthographic drawing of the Farnsworth House, I found the experience to be both challenging and rewarding. The meticulous attention to detail required in accurately representing the architectural elements allowed me to delve deep into the intricacies of the structure.

Experimenting with both one-point and two-point perspective added an extra layer to the process. It provided a valuable opportunity to explore different visual representations of the Farnsworth House, allowing me to grasp the nuances of how perspective impacts the overall depiction of space and form. One-point perspective conveyed a sense of depth and simplicity, while two-point perspective added complexity by illustrating the structure from multiple angles.

Overall, this exercise reinforced the importance of precision and careful observation in architectural drawing. Exploring different perspectives enriched my understanding of how various techniques can influence the visual impact of the final artwork. I look forward to applying these insights to future projects and honing my skills in architectural representation.
