PROJECT 2
PROJECT 2
STRUCTURE AND BODY (30% INDIVIDUAL)
Materials, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration1: 1 Bamboo Activity Structure
PROJECT BRIEF
INTRODUCTION
For Project 2, collaborate in groups to design and construct a 1:1 structure for a specific activity in a dormant green space, utilizing bamboo as the primary material. Demonstrate a basic understanding of bamboo's characteristics and construction principles, exploring joints, joinery, and structural aspects, alongside additional materials like rope, steel, and tensile fabric. Develop the design through workshops, tests, and investigations, incorporating architectural elements and principles from Project 1, as well as considerations of anthropometry and ergonomics. This project aims to showcase the impact of architectural design on space and users, emphasizing the potential for individuals to instigate change within the architectural context.
OBJECTIVES
Introduce and raise awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics, emphasizing their connection to form and space.
Provide a basic understanding of structure, design principles, and architectural terminologies as they apply to spatial and form configuration.

FINAL MODEL
4.0 Communication Skills
7.0 Citizenship And Global Perspective
Participating in the bamboo project with a sizable group highlighted the vital role of effective communication. With 19 members, clear and concise communication was essential for successful collaboration. We encountered disagreements, but ultimately, we reached a resolution.
While navigating through differing perspectives, we often got into arguments, but these disagreements became opportunities for deeper understanding. Engaging in regular discussions and brainstorming sessions demanded active listening and articulating ideas precisely.
REFLECTION
Embarking on the bamboo project with a group of 19 members presented both a unique set of challenges and opportunities for creative collaboration. The sheer size of the group required effective communication and coordination, pushing us to find innovative ways to pool our ideas and efforts.
Throughout the process, the challenges prompted continuous reevaluation and refinement of our initial concepts. The dynamic exchange of ideas within such a large team encouraged a diverse range of perspectives, enriching the design process. Rethinking and adapting our ideas became a constant, yet invigorating, aspect of the project.
The multitude of viewpoints fostered a resilient problem-solving mindset, enabling us to overcome obstacles collectively. Overall, the bamboo project not only tested our ability to work harmoniously in a large group but also emphasized the power of collective thinking and perseverance in addressing complex design challenges.
